Joe is an ordained minister and US Missionary for the Assemblies of God. He also serves as vice president and missionary for International Christian Institute in Boca Raton, Florida. Joe and Ann both have a heart committed to missions and Joe has had the opportunity to minister with ICI in several countries on numerous occasions. Presently, they are traveling the United States sharing the need for the church to help in reaching out to the people group called "People with Disabilities and their families."
It has always been our desire to work together in a ministry not only for the disabled population and their families, but also for families that have been faced with other devastating circumstances.
We were married on August 25, 1973 in Boston, Massachusetts. In February of 1975, we accepted the Lord Jesus as our personal savior and almost immediately became involved in church ministry. The first few years of our marriage were fun-filled and fast paced as we were the parents of two healthy, active boys. Days were filled with typical activities varying from church and after school programs to little league.
Then, on January 3, 1979, life took a different turn when our daughter Beth Ann was born. She was born three months prematurely weighing just two pounds. It is only by the grace of God and the touch of His hand that she and Ann are alive today. Medical complications forced the doctors to perform an emergency caesarean section on Ann without any anesthesia at all.
The next weeks and months continued to have many complications as Beth Ann fought daily for her life. She needed blood transfusions; was on 100% oxygen and a respirator; began having seizures, and had her lung collapse as well. Ann also was facing her own complications and remained in the hospital for six weeks. We were finally able to bring Beth Ann home three months after her birth, on March 5th, 1979, the day she was “scheduled” to be born. Little did we realize at this time that the road ahead would be long and complicated for our entire family, as life always is for those who are faced with medical and neurological disabilities.
Through the years, we relied on our faith in our Lord, sprinkled with humor, to try to keep normalcy in our household. This became an even greater task to try to accomplish as other circumstances came crashing into our lives, making it nowhere near “normal.”
However, we have learned firsthand that we serve a great and awesome God who has taken the broken pieces of our hearts and healed them. Our intention is not to air our “laundry” but to say we understand as we have had our measure of heartache as well. In fact, we are presently walking in the shoes of pain with grace. Our Father gives more grace and comfort to us day after day. It is our desire to be that someone you can talk to and pray with (2 Co 1:3&4) as we traverse this road together with Him.
It is recorded in Beth Ann’s medical records that she was without a heartbeat and oxygen for seven to nine minutes. While Ann is speaking to women’s groups, you will hear her recall the doctor saying “I don’t have a heartbeat!!”
We thank you for visiting our site. We’d like to take this time to introduce ourselves, and to share some of our life’s journey with you. We are Joe and Ann Trementozzi.
